THE HEAD VS. HEART: OBJECTS FOR THE DEPRESSED LIFESTYLE  is a series of objects about depression. The purpose of this project is encourage an open discourse about depression by giving transparency to normally invisible symptoms, thereby promoting a better understanding of the condition and dispelling associated stigma.

Through satire, the body of work represents direct and literal interpretations of common advice given to those who are depressed. Posing as familiar accessories, each object reveals a hidden quality which speaks to the characterizations of depression, in appearance, experience, and tactility.

In a broader scope, I believe that this project is an important criticism on the way we view mental illnesses. Vulnerability should not be viewed as an affliction. Our capacity for patience needs to measure to that of compassion because healing takes time.
